3 GENERATIONS OF LAWYERS, AS NGIGE, COUNCIL OF LEGAL EDUCATION CHAIR CLOCKS 64

It was a fitting birthday gift for Council of Legal Education Chairman, Chief Emeka Ngige SAN, OFR as he witnessed the Call to Bar of a new wig whose family has produced three generations of lawyers.

The Nigerian family is basking in joy after welcoming a third-generation lawyer into their fold, as captured in a viral video that has melted hearts online.

The new lawyer was called to the Nigerian Bar this week and proudly celebrated alongside her mother and grandmother, both of whom are also lawyers.

In the video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by #Oyindamola, the young lady is seen beaming with pride in her full legal regalia. She stood in line with her mother and grandmother, showcasing a remarkable legacy of legal excellence spanning three generations.

Netizens have flooded the family with congratulatory messages, praising the strong tradition of education and professional achievement.

THE PUNCH reports that the trio, dressed in their wigs and gowns, stood side by side, grandmother first, then mother, and finally the newest addition, symbolising the passing of the torch in a most touching and empowering way.

Born on July 11, 1961, Ngige (who is fondly called Ikemba N’Alor) has orchestrated an unprecedented turn-around of the Nigerian Law School, attracting sundry endowments from benefactors.

He launched an ambitious โ€œNigerian Law School Support Initiativeโ€ during his 60th birthday anniversary in 2021, leading to a Naira Rain from donors. The ongoing initiative is aimed to revamp the dilapidated facilities at the Law School.

Aside from a state-of-the-art brand new campus in Port Harcourt donated by the Rivers State Government, one of Africa’s richest businessmen, Mr. Femi Otedola recently visited the Lagos Campus of the school with a view to bequeathing some new facilities to it.

Ngige is reputed as a consummate litigator and a respected Bar Leader who has contributed greatly to the growth of Nigeria’s legal profession.
