What was meant to be a political conversation at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt quickly turned into one of the liveliest sessions of the day.

At the session themed “Politics, People, and Nigeria’s Future: Forget the Slogans,” Omoyele Sowore challenged both Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi over their records in government and their positions on major national issues.

Sowore questioned Obi’s record in Anambra, particularly on education and healthcare, while also taking on Amaechi over fuel subsidy and the performance of politicians who have previously held public office.

Amaechi, who attended the session as Atiku Abubakar’s representative, also traded words with Sowore as the conversation shifted to experience, electability and who has the strongest case for leading Nigeria in 2027.

The back-and-forth, audience reactions and sharp responses made the session feel less like a routine conference panel and more like an early glimpse of the political arguments Nigerians may hear repeatedly as the 2027 Elections draw closer.
