The Nigerian Bar Association National Officers Election Appeals Committee (NBA-NOEAC) has urged candidates who are dissatisfied with the conduct of the 2026 NBA Election to file appeal against returns made by the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA).
According to the notice made available to CITY LAWYER, the appeal is in line with Section 14(2)(n)(i) of the NBA Constitution, 2015 (as amended in 2025) and Paragraphs 1 to 15, Part X of the Second Schedule to the Constitution.
The Committee stated that such appeals must be lodged within seven (7) days from the date the election results were announced by the electoral committee.

NOTICE OF POST ELECTION PROCEEDINGS OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION NATIONAL OFFICERS ELECTION APPEALS COMMITTEE
- Pursuant to the provisions of Section 14(2)(n) (i) of the Nigerian Bar Association Constitution, 2015 (as amended in 2025), as well as Paragraphs 1 to 15, Part X of the Second Schedule to the Nigerian Bar Association Constitution, 2015 (as amended in 2025), the Nigerian Bar Association National Officers Election Appeals Committee (herein also referred to as the NBA-NOEAC), hereby gives notice that its secretariat has been activated in line with its Constitutional mandate, for purposes of dealing with any appeal against the outcome of the Nigerian Bar Association National Officers’ Elections held on Saturday the Saturday, 18th July 2026.
- NOTICE is hereby given that any candidate at the aforesaid election who desires to challenge the outcome thereof, may, within Seven (7) days from the day of the announcement of results by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), appeal against the return made by the ECNBA, to the NBA-NOEAC.
- The Appeal shall be by way of a Notice or Petition (accompanied by all necessary supporting documents) and shall comply strictly with the provisions of Paragraphs 1 to 15. Part X of the Second Schedule to the Nigerian Bar Association Constitution, 2015 (as amended in 2025).
- All Appeals shall be sent to the NBA-NOEAC via email to stellaowu@gmail.com, and must be sent within 7 (seven) davs of the announcement of results by Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA).
- The hearing may be conducted by reviewing documents presented by Petitioner only. The NBA-NOEAC, where it considers it necessary, may call for oral hearing, which may be conducted virtually or in-person.
- The NBA-NOEAC may rely on any document, information, or materials relevant for the just determination of the Appeal/Petition, after giving the parties opportunity to address it on the same.
- Hearing and determination of all Appeals shall be concluded within fourteen (14) days of receipt of an appeal lodged by a candidate in the manner stated above.
- The decision of the NBA-NOEAC on any appeal lodged by a candidate shall be final and binding on the parties.
