NEWS RELEASE
“Nigerian Law Society (NLS) Set to Launch its Stamp and Seal for its own Lawyers, Committee Chaired by Prof. Peter Akper, SAN”
By Dr. Tonye Clinton Jaja
Barring any unforeseen last minute hiccups, the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) is set to launch its stamp and seal in July 2025.
Towards this Prof. Peter Akper, SAN was appointed as Chairman of the NLS Stamp and Seal Committee to ensure a smooth sailing exercise.
Lawyers who are members of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) have also suggested inclusion of a digital version of the NLS stamp and seal.
The power to issue said stamp and seal to members of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) is an inherent internal self-regulatory power of professionals who have voluntarily joined such Associations. Even vulcanisers and even motor park touts (agberos) once they organise themselves into Associations and trade unions, usually issue stickers, emblems, stamps and seals to their members.
According to the plans, the said stamp and seal will be unveiled at the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) which is due to hold from July 23 to 26 2025.
Nigerian lawyers who are seeking a breath of fresh air and tired of the never ending dramas at the other professional Association of lawyers are welcome to register online at: https://members.nls.org.ng/register
