J-K GADZAMA LLP’S FOUNDING PRINCIPAL PARTNER, CHIEF JOE-KYARI GADZAMA, SAN, EARNS LL.M. SUMMA CUM LAUDE IN ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES LAW & POLICY
In a move that evinces the principle of lifelong learning, one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal practitioners, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, OFR, MFR, SAN, was today conferred with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Energy and Natural Resources Law and Policy from Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja. He achieved the highest academic honour, Summa Cum Laude, with a perfect CGPA of 5.0. The convocation ceremony, which held at the university’s main campus, celebrated the academic achievement of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who was called to the Nigerian Bar nearly four decades ago.
Chief Gadzama, a Life Bencher and the Founding Principal Partner of J-K Gadzama LLP, is already a celebrated figure in the legal landscape, having been the first SAN from the Nigerian Law School Class of 1986 and the first from the entire North-Eastern region of Nigeria. His decision to return to the classroom for a specialized LL.M. at this stage of his career sends a powerful message about the necessity of continuous professional development, particularly in dynamic sectors like energy.
The LL.M. program, which he completed with a Distinction, has significantly expanded his expertise to include Solid Mineral Law and Policy, Environmental Law, Oil and Gas Law, and Electricity Law. This specialized knowledge positions Chief Gadzama as a leading authority in areas crucial for national economic growth and stability. As Nigeria navigates issues of energy transition, resource management, and international investment, the expertise of legal minds like Chief Gadzama will be indispensable.
His academic pursuit is not an isolated event; Chief Gadzama also serves as the Chancellor of Newgate University, Minna, and is currently a PhD student at Nile University. This latest academic milestone further solidifies his commitment to both legal practice and legal education, ensuring his contributions to the bar and the bench remain relevant and cutting-edge.
