The Egbe Amofin O’odua, the umbrella body of lawyers of Yoruba extraction, has raised the stakes in the forthcoming Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential election by presenting its consensus canidate to the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF).
Reaffirming its commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and collaborative leadership within the Nigerian Bar Association, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Aare Isiaka Olagunju (SAN) formally presented Mr. Muyiwa Akinboro (SAN) as the Egbe Amofin Oodua candidate for the NBA 2026 National Election.
CITY LAWYER recalls that the presentation took place at the EBF Quarterly Meeting held at the Michael Okpata Auditorium, Umuahia, Abia State, before an audience comprising leaders of the Bar, Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and legal practitioners from across the country.
The Egbe Amofin O’odua delegation which was led by Olagunju included the Vice Chairman, Oluwatoyin Bashorun, SAN, and the Auditor, Moshood Abiola, underscoring the institutional nature of the engagement and the collective resolve of the Egbe’s membership.
In his address, Olagunju highlighted the long-standing and time-honoured partnership between the Egbe Amofin Oodua and the Eastern Bar Forum, a relationship anchored on mutual respect, shared values, and a common commitment to the unity and progress of the Nigerian Bar.
He recalled that both fora have consistently supported each other’s legitimate interests by backing credible candidates for NBA national leadership, thereby fostering balance, inclusiveness, and cohesion within the association.
The presentation of Akinboro was firmly situated within this proud tradition of cooperation, he said, adding that Akinboro was presented as a candidate of proven professional excellence, integrity, and one with a pan-Nigerian outlook whose vision and leadership aspirations resonate with the ideals jointly upheld by the Egbe Amofin Oodua and the EBF.
Egbe Amofin expressed its deep appreciation to the leadership and members of the Eastern Bar Forum for the warm reception accorded its delegation and for sustaining the enduring spirit of brotherhood that has defined relations between both fora over the decades.
The association stated that it remains confident that this time-honoured alliance will continue to advance the collective interests of the Bar and strengthen it as a united, principled, and forward-looking professional body.
