The Supreme Court of Nigeria has noted that “It has come to our immediate attention that fraudulent emails are currently being circulated by unauthorized platforms falsely claiming to be official sources for verified notaries in Nigeria.”
The apex court stated that “These entities are using deceptive marketing tactics to solicit fees and personal information from practitioners.”
The court urged notaries to “Be clearly advised that no money is ever charged for being listed on the Electronic Notary Register (ENR).”
The notice as seen by CITY LAWYER reads:
URGENT: Fraud Alert – Unauthorized Notary Solicitation
Dear Esteemed Notary,
It has come to our immediate attention that fraudulent emails are currently being circulated by unauthorized platforms falsely claiming to be official sources for verified notaries in Nigeria. These entities are using deceptive marketing tactics to solicit fees and personal information from practitioners.
Strict Compliance and Security Protocols:
To protect the integrity of your practice and your financial security, you are directed to adhere to the following strict protocols:
Be clearly advised that no money is ever charged for being listed on the Electronic Notary Register (ENR).
You must not pay anyone soliciting funds, fees, or “onboarding” payments for notary registration.
All legitimate communications regarding the ENR will originate exclusively from the official Supreme Court domain: @notary.gov.ng.
You are instructed to disregard and flag any communication, email, or phone call regarding these services that originates from any source other than the official government domain.
Action Required:
If you receive any suspicious emails or calls requesting payment of any kind, you must report it immediately to our official support channel:

Do not click on any links contained in such suspicious or unsolicited emails. Do not provide personal information or professional credentials to unauthorized platforms. Delete any fraudulent correspondence immediately after reporting.
