It has been a rain of condolence messages to senior lawyer and CITY LAWYER Publisher, Mr. Emeka Nwadioke as he prepares to lay his departed mother, Ezinne Roseline Chinwe Nwadioke to rest.
The event takes place at Nise, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday with a requiem service at Saint John’s Anglican Church, Nise. Guests are to be entertained at Umuazu Civic Centre after a private interment ceremony.
Opening the floodgate of condolence messages was Nigerian Bar Association President Afam Osigwe SAN. In a personally signed condolence letter dripping with emotions, Osigwe, who leads Africa’s largest Bar, wrote: “The life she lived is beautifully reflected in the accomplished, principled, and distinguished gentleman that you are. A mother’s greatest monument is not built of stone but of values instilled, lives shaped, and destinies strengthened. In this, she has left an indelible mark.”
Respected Bar Leader and Chairman of the Council of Legal Education (CLE), Chief Emeka Ngige SAN, OFR wrote: “A virtuous woman, Ezinne Nwadioke groomed all her children and relatives in the fear of God and in the best ethical traditions. It is unsurprising that in the nearly two decades that I have known you, you have kept faith with these values.”
In his condolence letter, foremost human rights activist, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa SAN wrote: “I urge you to continue in preserving the good legacies of Mama, to be strong in your spirit and to continue the good works that you do through City Lawyer and your wonderful team, for the good of our dear nation.”
On his part, the President of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS), Mela Audu Nunghe SAN, wrote: “We are confident that she left behind a legacy of strong values, compassion, and devotion which continue to live on through you, your siblings, and the entire Nwadioke family.”
While former University of Lagos (UNILAG) Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa thanked God “for Mama’s life, for the length of time He gave her to your family,” the pioneer female Dean of Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Chioma Agomo wrote that “It is clearly evident, in you, and through you, that Ezinne Roseline Chinwe Nwadioke lived a rich and fulfilled life. I can testify that in you, she left an enviable legacy – a legacy of integrity, trustworthiness, dependability and fear of God.”
Among those who also sent in condolence messages are His Majesty, Eze Dr. Chukwuemeka Eri, Ezeora 34th, the present occupant of the revered Eri Throne, believed to be the progenitor of the Igbo people; HRH Olori Olufunmilayo Ajibola-Oluyede, Life Bencher and Matriarch of the renowned Oluyede Royal Dynasty; Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, Bishop of Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion; Most Rev. Barr. Christopher Ede, Archbishop of Enugu, Methodist Church of Nigeria; Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna SAN, Abia State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice; Prince Okey Nwadinobi, Deputy President-General (Worldwide), Ohaneze Ndigbo; former Rivers State Commissioner for Works and erstwhile Director-General/CEO of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside; Prof. Uju Agomoh, Chairman of NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL), and Mrs. Uchenna Ogunedo Akingbade, Chairman of NBA Lagos Branch.

As at press time, Nwadioke has also received condolence letters from NBA Lawyers in the Media (NBA-LIM), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch), Otu Oka Iwu (Law Society), League of Anambra Professionals (LAP), Association of Anambra State Development Unions (AASDU), Nzuko Umunna, and Nise Town Union (NTU), to name a few.
The matriarch of the Nwadioke family passed on at the Federal Medical Centre, Lagos on 27th January, 2026, at the age of 95 years.
A statement by Nwadioke, a former SPIDEL Council Member and former NBA Lagos Branch Publicity Secretary, reads: “Our mother was the pillar of our family, a bright light in our lives. We will forever cherish her legacy of strength, love, and kindness. These virtues will continue to inspire us. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.”
