• REPORTS ALLEGED UNWANTED SOLICITATION TO JUSTICE DEPARTMENT

United States President Donald Trump has appointed Dr. Karl Von Batten, Managing Partner of Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., as a member of a presidential commission.

Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C. is at the centre of a publicity blitz over President Bola Tinubu’s alleged drug dealing Freedom of Information (FOI) case in the United States.

Announcing the appointment, the lobbying firm stated Batten would “serve the United States of America as a Commissioner on a @WhiteHouse presidential commission.”

The firm stated that “Dr. Von Batten is deeply grateful to President Trump (The Chief) for this appointment and for the confidence placed in him.”

CITY LAWYER recalls that Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C. is at the centre of an ongoing lobby to bring President Bola Tinubu’s alleged drug trafficking case to the attention of Trump and Congress.

The firm recently stated that “Throughout the day, we have been engaging with senior members of the @realDonaldTrump Administration and Congress, and our message has been clear: President Bola Tinubu’s (@officialABAT) alleged heroin trafficking is a #liability to the United States and to the peace and stability of Nigeria and the region as a whole.

“This stands in stark contrast to former Nigerian Vice President @atiku Abubakar, who is a statesman and, more importantly, unlike President #Tinubu, there is no U.S. government document in which Atiku is accused of drug trafficking or any other crime. Nigerians are God-fearing people who value life and family, and Atiku is an embodiment of these strong values.”

It has been widely reported that the firm recently inked a $1.2 million lobbying deal with Atiku to promote his image among the American public.

The firm has sensationally reported that Batten “received unsolicited offers of $3 million, along with an invitation to a confidential meeting in London, from a highly placed individual whom we have been informed is connected to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT).”

The statement reads: “A few days ago, Dr. Von Batten received unsolicited offers of $3 million, along with an invitation to a confidential meeting in London, from a highly placed individual whom we have been informed is connected to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (“@officialABAT). We believe these offers were an attempt to persuade Dr. Von Batten to end our campaign concerning President #Tinubu’s alleged heroin-trafficking records. Dr. Von Batten refused the offers, immediately preserved copies of the exchanges, and contacted members of former Nigerian Vice President @atiku’s campaign to determine the nature of the individual’s relationship with President #Tinubu. Shortly after the refusals, a smear campaign against Dr. Von Batten began. We will be providing the $3 million offer and related communications to the our friends at @TheJusticeDept and @FBI to protect our reputation and allow the appropriate authorities to review the matter. We have a simple message for President Bola #Tinubu, the @OfficialAPCNg, and their associates: Thank you for the offer, but no thanks.”

The claim has not been independently verified. However, the firm says it has now reported the alleged solicitation to the Justice Department, saying: “Out of an abundance of caution and to protect our reputation, earlier today we reported the incident described below to @TheJusticeDept and provided screenshots of the communications we received.

“Given the amount of money discussed, the proposed confidential meeting in London, and the request to communicate through disappearing messages, we believed the responsible course was to preserve the evidence and bring the matter to the attention of the appropriate U.S. authorities. We will now allow @TheJusticeDept to determine whether the communications warrant any further review. In the meantime, we will continue our work representing former Nigerian Vice President @atiku Abubakar’s interests before the White House and Congress.”

It is recalled that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently submitted confidential, under-seal materials to a federal court in Washington, D.C., as part of an ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case involving records sought by American transparency activist Aaron Greenspan concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C. has been at the centre of drumming the case into the ears of all who care to listen.
