Nigeria’s former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN will deliver the Keynote Address at the eagerly awaited 2026 Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) Annual Conference.

Osinbajo’s address is the highlight of the Keynote Session billed to take place on Tuesday, 10th November, 2026 at the prestigious International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia, Abia State. The conference is themed “In Public Interest: Advancing Justice, Democracy & Development.”

The Keynote Session will be chaired by former Supreme Court jurist, Justice Suleiman Galadima (OFR, CFR) while responses will be given by Prof. Pat Utomi, Founder/CEO,  Centre for Values & Leadership; Lisa Henry, Secretary General of International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT), and Assoc. Professor Sam Amadi, Director of Abuja School of Social & Political Thought.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun GCON will deliver a Special Address at the conference while the Distinguished NBA-SPIDEL Annual Conference Speech will be delivered by the Minister for Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN.

Aside from welcome remarks by Chairman of the NBA-SPIDEL 2026 Conference Planning Committee, Sir Ejike Ezenwa SAN, the Opening Ceremony will also feature a welcome address by NBA-SPIDEL Chair, Prof. Uju Agomoh. NBA President, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsaya SAN will deliver the NBA President’s Address.

Goodwill messages will be given by past NBA Presidents including Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN, Mr. Augustine Alegeh (SAN, CON), Mr. Paul Usoro SAN, Mr. Olumide Akpata and Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN.

Similar messages will be delivered by Dr. Kingsley Udeh SAN, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology; Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma; Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah; Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru; Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, and former Chairman of South-East Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Lawrence Agubuzu (CFR).

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti will then deliver his address and formally declare the conference open.

Following interventions on the Keynote Address by the audience, curtains will be drawn on the Opening Ceremony & Keynote Session with a vote of thanks by NBA-SPIDEL Vice Chairman, Mr. Paul Daudu SAN. Veteran Nollywood actor, Mr. Modestus Onyekwere MFR (popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo) has confirmed his attendance as the compere for the Opening Ceremony.
