No less than 82,213 lawyers are eligible to elect the next Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President in an election billed to hold on July 18, 2026.
According to an email to NBA members seen by CITY LAWYER, the voters are spread across 139 NBA branches.
Meanwhile, the electoral committee reports that “Six hundred and seventy-one (671) names appear at the end of the Final Voters Register, after the Zaria Branch listing, under the heading: “Legal Practitioners Who Paid Practising Fees Before the Deadline But Without Any Indication of Belonging to Any Branch.”

The electoral umpire warns that “The presence of a name in this section does not, of itself, confer eligibility to vote in the 2026 NBA National Elections.”
Noting that membership of an NBA Branch “is a prerequisite for eligibility to vote in NBA National Elections,” the electoral body urged: “Affected persons are strongly urged to take immediate steps to regularise their Branch affiliation records and to contact the ECNBA Secretariat at support@ecnba.zohodesk.com without delay.”
