The Mid-West Bar Forum has congratulated Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President-elect, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya SAN on her election.

In a congratulatory letter seen by CITY LAWYER, the regional group stated that her emergence “is a testament to the confidence reposed in you by members of the Nigerian Bar Association and we believe that you will discharge the onerous responsibilities of your respective offices with integrity, courage, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of the legal profession.”

In the statement signed by Mr. Ama Etuwewe SAN (Chairman) and Ebosele Okhifoh (Secretary), the group “particularly appeal to those who were unsuccessful at the polls, as well as their supporters, to graciously accept the outcome of the election and sheathe their swords in the greater interest of the Bar. Every candidate who presented himself or herself for service has demonstrated commendable courage, sacrifice, and commitment to the advancement of the Association. Your contributions remain invaluable, and we encourage you to continue offering your wealth of experience and leadership in building a stronger and more united Bar.”

The forum assured the newly elected officers “of its cooperation and support as they embark upon the task of leading the Association. We trust that they will be leaders for all, irrespective of electoral affiliations, and will govern with inclusiveness, transparency, and fidelity to the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association.”

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO THE NEWLY ELECTED NATIONAL OFFICERS OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION.

The Midwest Bar Forum heartily congratulates all the winners of the just concluded 2026 Nigerian Bar Association National Elections held on July 18, 20206, on their well-deserved victory. Your emergence is a testament to the confidence reposed in you by members of the Nigerian Bar Association and we believe that you will discharge the onerous responsibilities of your respective offices with integrity, courage, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of the legal profession.

The successful conclusion of the elections mark not merely the emergence of new leaders but another important milestone in the annals of the Nigerian Bar Association. We commend the Executive Council of the Nigerian Bar Association as well as the Electoral Committee for conducting the exercise and appreciate every member who participated in strengthening the democratic traditions of our Association.

As the electoral contest has now come to an end, we urge all members of the Bar to set aside the divisions and passions that naturally accompany elections and embrace the spirit of unity, reconciliation, and collective purpose. The Nigerian Bar Association is greater than any individual aspiration or electoral contest, and its continued progress depends on the willingness of all members to work together in pursuit of our common objectives.
