PEACE C. AMA-ELETUO (AMAECHI) HAILS NBA PRESIDENT, NEC ON CREATION OF NBA OYIGBO BRANCH
PEACE C. AMA-ELETUO (AMAECHI) APPRECIATES THE PRESIDENT OF THE NBA, MAZI AFAM OSIGWE, SAN & NEC ON THE CREATION OF NBA OYIGBO BRANCH.
THE National Executive Council of the NBA at its NEC Meeting held on 20th August, 2025 in Benin, Edo State approved and announced the creation of the Oyigbo Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. There is no gain saying that this development will help to show case NBA as an organ of societal improvement within the locality and also, as an agent of positive change and development. It will also help the Lawyers practicing within the area to be fully involved, and also, participatory in NBA activities.
Knowing the importance of this, I thank the Almighty God of “Times and Seasons”, who has made all things beautiful in His own time, for making the creation of Oyigbo Branch of the NBA a reality this time, through His special human instrument, our amiable President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN.
The thought of having Oyigbo Branch of the NBA has been a matter of great concern to me since I joined the Bar over Twenty (20) years ago and seeing it materialize now, in my life time is like a dream come true. Words are not enough to express my gratitude to our “God Sent” President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN for the creation of the Branch.
I thank our National General Secretary, Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, and the National Executive Council for all their support for the approval of the creation of Oyigbo Branch. I also thank our amiable Chairman of Chairmen in Rivers State, the capacity Chairman of Port Harcourt Branch, Mrs Cordelia U. Eke and all the Branch Chairmen in Rivers State for this great feat.
I humbly, thank our Learned Senior Advocates of Nigeria and Bar Leaders in Rivers State especially: OCJ Okocha, SAN; Okey Wali, SAN; Sommie Somiari, SAN etc, who made tireless efforts, for all their advice, great encouragement and support. They had to throw in their weight for the actualization of this dream.
My special thanks also, goes to the Honorable Chief Judge of Rivers State- Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi for his maximum support. He had to do more than the required to make sure that it was achieved and, to all the Judges and Judicial Officers of Rivers State especially the Presiding Judge in charge of Oyigbo Judicial division – Hon. Justice Florence Fiberesima, I say, the Lord bless you all.
Back home, I want to thank the Oyigbo Lawyers Association and all the subscribers who saw it as something worth sacrificing for its achievement. To mention but a few: HigherKing Onyeukwu; Kingsley Ajuziogu; Stephen U. Nwaeke; our sister of blessed memory- Doris Oforji-Stephen; Daniel Onyegorom, Daberechi Mac-Ajaelu; Solomon Iwela and so many others.
I cannot conclude without thanking one of the strong supporters in this process, Ugo Uzogho for his sincere struggle and, those who played one role or the other for the actualization of the project. Those that also worked behind the scene; S. Long Williams Esq. who tirelessly pursued the process since beginning from when he served as Secretary, NBA PH Branch. Special thanks also goes to Dr. Peter Ayogu and many others for their support and encouragement which cannot be ignored.
May the Good Lord keep us all, and help us to nurture and grow NBA Oyigbo Branch for posterity.
