The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has released the branch-by-branch list of eligible voters for the forthcoming NBA Elections.
Apparently in a bid to assuage concerns of some stakeholders that the elections may not be free, fair and credible, the committee stated that the unveiling of the voters list is “to ensure that transparency underpins every stage of the electoral process.”
CITY LAWYER recalls that at least two NBA presidential candidates had petitioned the committee on sundry issues that revolve around ensuring increased transparency in the electoral process.
Some stakeholders had also urged the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN to use his office as Chairman of the General Council of the Bar to appoint a Sole Administrator for the NBA who will supervise the elections. This will invariably lead to an abrupt end of the Afam Osigwe SAN-led NBA Administration.

NOTICE OF PUBLICATION OF BRANCH-BY-BRANCH VOTERS LIST
Distinguished Colleagues,
In furtherance of the resolve of the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) 2026
to ensure that transparency underpins every stage of the electoral process, and pursuant to the Revised
Timetable issued on the 3rd day of July, 2026, the Branch-by-Branch List of Voters is hereby published
for the scrutiny of all stakeholders.
Genuine observations and comments are welcome and should be forwarded to the Committee via the
official email address: info@ecnba.org.ng
Kindly take further note of the following:
- The email address, telephone number, and SCN (Supreme Court Enrolment Number) of each voter
have been deliberately omitted to protect the privacy and personal data of voters, and to forestall
data harvesting or any other act capable of compromising the good intentions of the Committee. - Six hundred and seventy-one (671) names appear after the Zaria Branch listing, under the
heading “Legal Practitioners Who Paid Practising Fees Before the Deadline But Without Any
Indication of Belonging to Any Branch.” Affected persons are enjoined to take note of the clear
provisions of the NBA Constitution on the requirements for eligibility to vote, particularly the
requirement of member ship of a Br anch. - This publication does not constitute the Final Voters List. The Final Voters List to be published in
due course will contain all necessary e-voting details, together with a window within which each
eligible voter may verify the accuracy of his or her email address, telephone number, and SCN, prior
to the final freeze of the Voters Register.
All concerned are strongly encouraged to devote time to a careful review of the List.
Dated this 6th day of July, 2026.
