Leading jurists, senior lawyers, academics and members of the Bar gathered in Port Harcourt last Thursday, 24th June, 2026, for the public presentation of the book, Rudiments of Criminal Appeals in Nigeria, written by immediate past Nigerian Bar association (NBA) Port Harcourt Chairman, Cordelia Uwuma Eke.

Delivering her goodwill message at the event, the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division, Justice Oluyemisi Williams-Dawodu lauded the author for her courage, diligence, hard work and exemplary leadership as NBA Port Harcourt Chairman.

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, described the book as a scholarly yet practical guide that simplifies criminal appellate practice.
In his address, the Chief Judge noted that the book is an invaluable resource for judges, lawyers, academics and law students, adding that it has the potential to improve the quality of criminal justice administration by reducing procedural errors in criminal appeals.

Also presented at the event was the book, Beyond the Glass Ceiling, edited by Dr. Grace Chigala Ajaegbo.
The President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Iheanacho Wilfred Obuzor, also commended the senior lawyer for her effort, describing both books as a timely contribution to the profession. He praised the Bar Leader for her resilience, vision and exemplary leadership.
The event was chaired by Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Rtd.). In attendance were NBA First Vice President, Mr. Sabastine Anya; the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, Dr. Vera Sam-Dike, as well as senior members of the Bench, Bar, academics, and legal practitioners.

Rudiments of Criminal Appeals in Nigeria is reputed to provide an authoritative, practice-focused guide for criminal appellate advocacy while Beyond the Glass Ceiling captures the inspiring story of Cordelia Eke’s historic emergence as the first female Chairman of NBA Port Harcourt Branch as well as the resilience that defined her groundbreaking tenure and legacies as a Bar Leader.
