NEWS RELEASE
DR. MONDAY UBANI, SAN ENDORSES OKEY LEO OHAGBA FOR NBA GENERAL SECRETARY 2026!
Beloved colleagues and friends at the Bar,
As we approach the NBA National Elections fixed for this Saturday, 18th July, 2026, I am pleased to endorse Okey Leo Ohagba for the position of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association.
My support for Okey is founded on years of close professional association and firsthand knowledge of his exceptional competence, stellar character, and burning passion to deliver quality service at all times.
Between 2016 and 2018, while I served as the 2nd Vice President of the NBA, Okey Ohagba distinguished himself as the 1st Assistant General Secretary of the Association in the same EXCO. Working diligently under the delegated authority of the then General Secretary, Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN, his efficiency and commitment to duty were evident. He managed all records with demonstrable distinction, breaking a record by delivering completely error-free NEC/AGM minutes throughout our tenure and pioneered electronic dissemination of NEC/AGM bundles.

I also had the privilege of working closely with him in the NBA-SPIDEL during my tenure as Chairman of the Section. Okey was undoubtedly one of the key drivers of those resounding successes we recorded at conferences, serving as part of the core engine room that coordinated the planning and execution of those conferences with remarkable attention to detail. Noting his unwavering sense of commitment, I appointed him the CPC Chairman for the NBA-SPIDEL Conference Ikeja 2023 where he undoubtedly delivered excellence.
Over the years, I have known Okey to be a patient, meticulous, innovative multitasker and a consummate team player who consistently delivers excellent results, even under intense pressure. Beyond our professional engagements, he has remained a dependable friend, demonstrating uncommon commitment and a readiness to serve whenever called upon.
What stands out most about Okey Ohagba is his unwavering pursuit of excellence and his keen eye for quality. These attributes, combined with his administrative competence and organizational skills, make him exceptionally suited for the office of General Secretary of the NBA.
I have no doubt that, if elected, Okey Leo Ohagba will bring real innovation, efficiency, and positive transformation to the NBA Secretariat.
I therefore wholeheartedly endorse him and respectfully urge my learned colleagues across the country to support his aspiration to serve.
The cap fits him perfectly, by the grace of God.
