New Election Timetable Out Today, Says ECNBA

• ‘CRENET Is Having Challenges’
• Why Accreditation Cannot Start Now

The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has stated that CRENET Techlabs Limited, its ICT Partner for the verification exercise, is having “a number of challenges” in cleaning up the voters’ register.

This confirms CITY LAWYER’s report of yesterday that the ICT company has been battling with its mandate to align the lists of eligible voters sent in by branches with the Supreme Court Roll and the Stamp List given to it by the ECNBA.

In a statement released around 12:30 am today, ECNBA while restating its commitment to free, fair and credible elections, noted that the stakeholders are aware of the challenges.

It assured that it “will announce new timelines for the verification, accreditation and voting exercises by 12:00 noon tomorrow Sunday 29th July, 2018 (today).”

CITY LAWYER had reported that a meeting of ECNBA with the candidates’ technical partners was slated for 10 o’clock yesterday. The meeting ended around midnight.

There are strong indications that the technical demonstration of the platform by CRENET took place around 10 pm yesterday. A source at the meeting told CITY LAWYER that “CRENET has assured us that the database would be ready by tomorrow morning (today).”

With barely two days to month-end, it remains to be seen how ECNBA will joggle the time-table to meet the July 31 deadline set for it by NBA to deliver the elections.
