INVESTIGATION: Unmasking CRENET Techlabs

CRENET TechLabs Limited, the ICT company hired by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) for its voter verification exercise, prides itself as “a technology & communications agency with vast expertise in utilizing technology for digital transformation and business growth.”

Founded barely two years ago in 2016, the tech company has a vision to “be a world-class marketing communications & technology solutions provider driven by shared commitment to excellence, timely delivery, professionalism and efficient customer service.”

It also boasts of “expertise across service design, experience design, marketing communications and implementation. For many of our clients we provide this full suite of services, and for others we provide a subset.”

CRENET lists its “key capabilities” to include system design & prototyping, user experience design, website development, app development (web & mobile), testing & quality assurance, and hosting and security.

The tech company believes that “In the adaptation and use of technology across the global landscape, we are part of a race of geeks transforming our world one solution at a time. We work with key players across economies, governments, markets and industries. We see BIG.”

The company is founded by a quartet, namely Adegbenga Agoro (Founding Partner, Technology), Matilda Mordi-Okufi (Founding Partner, Digital), Kehinde Olateru (Founding Partner, Projects & Products) and Sola Adebayo (Founding Partner, Design & Development). It is unclear whether Adegbenga is related to Mr. Bolaji Agoro, the ECNBA Secretary.

Some of CRENET’s better known clients include Guinness Nigeria, The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Protea Hotel, Total Nigeria, Panocean Oil Nigeria Limited, and The Platform. It also developed a website for the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo GCON, SAN.

Instructively, CRENET is not a stranger to the legal industry or to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) system in particular. CRENET managed the NBA Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) website http://www.nbasblconference.org for its 12th Annual Business Conference which held in Abuja between June 28 and 29, 2018. It also anchored the website for the 11th edition which held last year, barely a year after its founding. The tech company equally manages the section’s official website.

Following the resurgence of the NBA Section on Legal Practice, CRENET also clinched the contract to manage its website http://www.nbaslpconference.org for the 2018 NBA-SLP Annual Conference in Port Harcourt. Prof Augustine R. Agom, an ECNBA member, is also a council member of the section. Incidentally, all the three candidates in the race for NBA Presidency – Chief Arthur Obi Okafor SAN, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu SAN and Mr. Paul Usoro SAN – were billed to speak at the SLP conference.

CRENET manages the website https://www.jacksonettiandedu.com of at least one law firm, Jackson, Etti & Edu.
