NBA PRESIDENT NAMES MAJEMITE ETHICS C’TE MEMBER

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Yakubu Maikyau SAN has appointed Mr. Emuobonuvie Majemite as a member of the NBA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.

Announcing the appointment in an email to all NBA members, Maikyau also named popular Law teacher, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu SAN as the Chairman of the committee while Mrs. Olabisi Soyebo SAN is to act as the Alternate Chairman. The high-level committee is made of 39 members.

Majemite is a leading aspirant for the post of Secretary of NBA Lagos Branch. The branch is the most influential of all NBA branches, especially as it has by far the highest voting population in every NBA election cycle.

He is a Partner at PUNUKA Attorneys and Solicitors where he heads both the Arbitration and ADR and Property Law practice groups. He is the Chairman of the Young Members Group (YMG) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch).

He is also a Member of the Panel of Neutrals of the Micro, Small and Medium Scheme of the Lagos Court of Arbitrators (LCA) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch). He co-authored several chapters on arbitration and has been involved in a number of domestic and international arbitrations as part of the team of counsel.

Announcing his decision to vie for the coveted post, Majemite wrote: “It is my pleasure to report that as of 9:30 am today being Friday, 14th April, 2023, I submitted my nomination form with supporting documents to vie for the office of Secretary of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Premier Branch.

“I am grateful to my nominators and to my teeming learned friends who have keyed into the project of innovative service.

“I await communication from the Electoral Committee.”
