CHIEF JOE-KYARI GADZAMA SAN HONOURED WITH THE THOMAS SANKARA PAN AFRICAN LEADERSHIP PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE AWARD BY THE YOUTH PARTNERSHIP FOR AFRICA’S DEVELOPMENT (YOUPAD)

The distinguished legal luminary, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN, is the latest recipient of the Thomas Sankara Leadership Prize for Excellence, an award of commendation reserved for great Africans whose lives exemplify true leadership, excellence and commitment to Pan Africanism.

He was meritoriously honoured with the award on Tuesday, 25th June 2024, by the Youth Partnership for Africa’s Development (YOUPAD), a Pan African Youth League and umbrella body for all students and youth organizations across Africa.

From a pool of Africans, the erudite Learned Silk was selected for this recognition due to his dignified status as a selfless leader and prominent African dedicated to service to God, Humanity and Country which is in line with the Thomas Sankara Ideology.

The conferment of the award which took place in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, was graced by esteemed individuals, including the Executive Committee members of YOUPAD from Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Rwanda, and the staff of J-K Gadzama LLP.

The President of YOUPAD, Amb. Nwankwo Henry Nkem, who is the second Nigerian to head the Organization after the late former Governor and Minister, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, in his Keynote Address, lauded the erudite Learned Silk as possessing several unique qualities which are worthy of emulation. He outlined these qualities using the letters of the Learned Silk’s name, thus:
JOE = J – Just , O – Outstanding , E – Exceptional; KYARI = K – Kind , Y – Young At Heart , A – Amiable , R – Reliable , I – Intelligent; GADZAMA = G – Giver , A – Astute , D – Dedicated , Z – Zealous , A – Accountable , M – Magnanimous , A – Articulate.

The Secretary General of YOUPAD, Amb. Paul Kwabena also decorated the Learned Silk with a medal and presented him with commemorative plaques, symbolizing the conferment of the laudable award.

He emphasized that the recognition is a testament to Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama’s hardwork, integrity, transparency and tireless contribution to nation building.

In addition to the plaque and medal, Gadzama, SAN was also presented with a certificate inducting him into the Thomas Sankara Selfless Leadership Hall of Fame. The certificate according to the YOUPAD team will be on display at the Organization’s Hall of Fame Building in Accra, Ghana.

Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN appreciated the leadership of YOUPAD for the recognition and reiterated that he will, as always, remain committed to selfless leadership, nation building, mentorship of the younger generation and promotion of Pan-Africanism.

It was indeed an epoch-making ceremony of conferring honour on a man of honour!
