A senior lawyer, Chief Charles Emeka Madiebo has urged lawyers to vote for Dr. Gerald Abonyi as the First Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in the NBA Elections holding on Saturday.

Speaking to some select Members of NBA Ikeja Branch last Friday, Madiebo said:

“I have known Dr. Gerald Abonyi from our days as NBA Ikeja Branch members in the early 90s.

“He has been and still remains an astute, unwavering, outspoken and tenacious Bar man. On a particular occasion, he became so outspoken in an Ikeja Branch meeting that a well-known senior member of the Bar admonished him to either accept a particular election decision or go and contest “in his village.”

“He took this statement quite seriously and thereafter commenced/championed (together with others) the fight for the formation of an NBA Branch in his hometown, Obollo-Afor. He went on to become the pioneer Chairman.

“This is the dogged fighter that I know, and I believe he will defend the Bar doggedly and tenaciously at the national level.”
