• Ex-KWM London Managing Partner to Face Tribunal After Alleged Inappropriate Conduct

The former managing partner of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) in London has been prosecuted by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for alleged inappropriate conduct directed towards a female colleague.

Darren Roiser is accused of “kissing” his colleague and “commenting that she was very attractive”, according to the SRA’s filing.

He has been referred to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. The SRA stressed that the allegations are “as yet unproven”.

The prosecution outcome is from April but was made public by the SRA on Thursday.

In 2018, Roiser, a litigator, was named KWM’s London office managing partner. He made partner at the firm in 2016 after joining from Slaughter and May in 2011.

Roiser left the KWM partnership in April earlier this year, according to Companies House filings.

Law.com International was unable to contact Roiser for comment. KWM in Asia did not respond to requests for comment.

In October 2023, Eversheds Sutherland took on around 70% of KWM’s London office, including six partners as well as a number of associates, paralegals, and non-legal staff. This was part of a wider referral agreement reached between Eversheds and KWM.

In 2017, KWM’s Europe and Middle East arm filed for administration and subsequently relaunched a new operation led by a group of partners — including Roiser — who agreed to stay on with the firm in the wake of the collapse of the legacy SJ Berwin business.
