Lawyer and Channels Television prime time newscaster Milliscent Nnwoka has been named winner of the prestigious Nigerian Media Merit Awards (NMMA) “TV Programme Presenter of the Year” prize for 2024.

The coveted NMMA Awards was held at the MUSON Center, Onikan, Lagos. The exquisite ceremony, which brought together media icons, veterans, and professionals alongside notable members of society, celebrated excellence in Nigerian journalism and media.

Nnwoka’s exceptional work in television broadcasting earned her the accolade, distinguishing her in a competitive field of nominees.

An author, lawyer, and seasoned presenter with over a decade of experience in the industry, Nnwoka is reputed for her eloquence, professionalism, and ability to connect with diverse audiences.

As the host of Channels Television’s flagship “News At Ten” and other special programmes over the years, she has tackled critical national issues with depth and balance, earning the respect of her peers and viewers alike.

Speaking after carting home the coveted prize, Nnwoka dedicated the award to her team at Channels Television and to viewers who have supported her journey, saying: “This recognition inspires me to keep telling the stories that matter and to uphold the standards of journalism.”

The NMMA Board of Trustees lauded the quality of entries across all categories, reaffirming the awards as a benchmark for excellence in Nigerian media.

Winners were also announced in other categories including Television Newscaster of the Year, Print Journalist of the Year, and Radio Broadcaster of the Year. The event concluded with a call to action for media professionals to continue shaping the narrative of a progressive Nigeria.
