ISAAC OMUTA OGBAH, FICMC, CANDIDATE FOR 3RD VICE PRESIDENT OF NBA PRESENTS HIS MANIFESTO TO NIGERIAN LAWYERS

Says: “Look at me, I have all it takes to be the President of NBA.” And because of that, if elected as the 3rd Vice President of the NBA, the NBA President would be so glad and pleased with him that the President would delegate him with responsibilities and he would deliver ?%

MR. Ogbah states further: “while representing the NBA President on any given assignment everyone would gladly receive whatever message he comes to deliver because he would deliver it well!!!

MR. Ogbah states further, while quoting the book of Job 33:4 “*I am the one the Spirit of God has made; I am the one in whom the breath of the Almighty has given life: and because of that I present myself before all lawyers to receive your and be made the 3rd Vice President of the NBA!!!”*

At the Manifesto and Presidential debate MR. Isaac Ogbah overwhelming received the support and applause of lawyers who were physically and virtually present!!!

Hence it is believed that come 16th July 2022 MR. Isaac Omuta Ogbah is seeking the overwhelming support of lawyers to vote ? him as the next 3rd Vice President of the NBA.

CLASFON, MULAN HOST GADZAMA IN ILORIN

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Security Agencies Relations Committee, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN has been hosted by the Executives of the Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON), Ilorin Branch led by its Chairman, John Mayokun Dada alongside Mr. Femi Olorunfemi (Secretary) and John Olotu Bariki (Public Relations Officer).

Meanwhile, the leading litigator and chartered arbitrator also joined the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Kwara Chapter at the Princess Luxury Hotel and Tourism, Pipeline Road, Ilorin, Kwara State to celebrate the sallah holiday.

Gadzama was accompanied to the CLASFON meeting by the former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Dr. Akin Onigbinde (SAN); Mr. Oyetola Muyiwa Atoyebi (SAN) and Mr. Olasunkanmi Emmanuel Oluwabiyi.

Dada welcomed the entourage to Ilorin Branch and him that the executives deemed it necessary to welcome them to Ilorin. He informed the delegation of the activities of the chapter.

Responding, Gadzama appreciated CLASFON Ilorin branch executives for the honour done to him and promised to continue to support the objectives of CLASFON as a member. He stated that the essence of the fellowship is to instill the godly nature of Jesus Christ on members of the legal profession to ensure they are worthy of good conduct and character by shunning corruption. He commended the executives for their good service and implored them to be steadfast in their service to God Almighty and humanity.

Gadzama has over the years supported CLASFON in many ways. It is noted that the law firm of Gadzama LLP has over the years held Annual Christmas Carol by bringing together members from within and outside the Bar to mark the celebration of the birth of Christ. It is recalled that the National President of CLASFON, Prof. Oluwole Akintayo attended the last Christmas Carol of the firm held on Monday, 20th December, 2021 as Guest Speaker.

Gadzama was accompanied to the MULAN ceremony by the former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Dr. Akin Onigbinde, SAN; Mr. Oyetola Muyiwa Atoyebi, SAN; Mr. M. I. Akande; Mr. Ganny Ajape; Chief Debo Adeyemo; Mr. Olasunkanmi Oluwabiyi and Nafisat Ibrahim.

The NBA-SARC Chairman told the huge crowd that he has been enjoying the festive season in Ilorin with friends and colleagues. He encouraged the MULAN to keep up her good work by instilling the virtues of a true Muslim among her members.

Akande extolled the Chairman of MULAN Kwara Chapter, Mr. Folorunsho Ahmad Hussein who played a vital role in the NBA Ilorin Branch over the years and had been responsive to his duties. He introduced Gadzama and his entourage to the chairman of MULAN Ilorin Chapter.

Onigbinde disclosed that he had always been a friend to MULAN even to the point that he was invited to their Annual Lecture at Ibadan Chapter in Oyo State. He implored the chapter to extend their goodwill and kindness to others outside the faith.

On his part, Ajape aligned himself with Onigbinde and disclosed that Gadzama despite being a Christian, was solely responsible for completion of the Hajj to Mecca by some members of the Bar.

While the meeting with MULAN executives was ongoing, the National President of MULAN, Prof. Ibrahim A. Abikan joined the gathering.

Gadzama stated that he believes that the meeting was ordained by Allah. He informed the gathering that right from a tender age, he has always being a unifier of people regardless of religion, age, class, association, culture and philosophies. He implored the members to continue to propagate the virtues of true Muslims among the members and to others outside the faith.

The Chairman of MULAN, Kwara Chapter, Folorunsho Ahmad Hussein described the Sallah picnic as unique due to the presence of Gadzama, his entourage and the National President of MULAN, Prof. Ibrahim A. Abikan.

Abikan urged the members present to see everyone as human beings first. He attested to the fact that the good name of Gadzama has been registered in the hearts of MULAN members. Abikan prayed that Allah expands Gadzama’s coast to continue with his service to God and humanity. He stated that Gadzama’s presence in Ilorin has a hand of Almighty Allah. He noted that he has had heard about all the good works of Gadzama and will continue to have the Bar Leader in his prayers.

The MULAN Kwara Chapter Executives and members who were on hand to receive Gadzama were Abdullahi Saliu Ishola (1st Vice Chairman), Nurat Toyin Obalowu (2nd Vice Chairman), Malik Abdulmajeed (Secretary), Aminat Adeshina (Treasurer), Adewale Sheriff Oseni, Hajia Falilat Balogun (Ex-officio), Shehu Ismail Salaudeen (Ex-officio), Haruna Mahmud (PRO 1), Ibrahim T. ‘WE’LL PARTNER WITH CIARB TO MAKE LAGOS ADR HUB,’ SAYS SANWO-OLU

Members of the Executive Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Nigeria Branch recently paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu. The aim of the visit was to discuss areas of collaboration.

Chief J. Akingbola Akinola, SAN, CIArb thanked the Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu for taking out time from his very busy schedule to receive the CIArb delegation, a statement obtained by CITY LAWYER noted. He observed that Lagos State plays a pivotal role in the Nigerian economy and it remains the focal point of economic, financial and commercial activities in the country.

Akinola added that a lot of infrastructural development is ongoing in Lagos State and that as disputes are an inevitable part of commercial activities, the establishment of an effective and efficient dispute resolution framework with well-trained and equipped human capital is essential for the economic growth as well as commercial activity within Lagos State. He lauded the progressive nature of the Lagos State Government under the Leadership of the Governor.

He informed the Governor that the Institute is positioned to partner with the Lagos State Government in capacity building and the use of the ADR mechanisms to support the activities of the government.

The Governor thanked the CIArb delegation for the visit and commended the CIArb Nigeria Branch on the work being done by the institute in the field of ADR and training of ADR practitioners. He noted that arbitration is an important tool to settle disputes and there is a need for capacity building in this area. He assured the CIArb Nigeria Branch of his support to develop Lagos State into an ADR hub.

Among the CIArb Nigeria Branch delegation were the 1st Vice Chair, Mrs. Sola Adegbonmire, C.Arb; the 3rd Vice Chair, Mrs. Obosa Akpata, C.Arb; Branch Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Akinwunmi, FCIArb; Branch Treasurer, Mr. Akin Omisade, FCIArb; Chairman of the Training Sub-Committee, Mr. Seyilayo Ojo, C.Arb; Assistant Secretary, Mr. Ibifubara Berenibara FCIArb, and the General Manager of the Branch, Ms. Chinelo Agbala.

The Lagos State delegation included the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat; the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, FCIArb; the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab and the Account-General of Lagos State, Mr. Abiodun Muritala.

‘BE ACCOUNTABLE TO MEMBERS,’ GADZAMA URGES NBA BRANCH LEADERS

Former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential candidate, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN has urged NBA branch leaderships to be accountable and display positive leadership, adding that these attributes are the life wire of the legal profession.

Gadzama stated this while receiving a delegation of NBA Gombe Branch led by its Executive Committee in his Abuja law office.

The leading arbitrator and Chairman of the Mentorship Committee of the Body of Benchers (BOB) urged the Executive Committee not to relent in its role as branch officers who are expected to continually uphold the enviable standard of ethics and prestige for which the profession has become known.

He thanked the branch leadership “for always promoting the interest of the profession and for the courtesy visit.”

In his response, the leader of the delegation and NBA Gombe Branch Chairman, Mr. Haruna Yelma said the visit was “to identify with the Learned Silk who is one of our own.”

He thanked Gadzama for the warm reception accorded the delegation and the “invaluable words of wisdom,” and urged him not to be weary in supporting the branch.

He also commended the leading lawyer “for your continuous unwavering support and immense contributions to the Branch as well as the legal profession at large.”

CITY LAWYER gathered that the delegation had “fruitful discussions” with Gadzama before they parted.
