‘WOMEN IN THE PROFESSION’ FOR LAUNCH TOMORROW

The Nigerian Chapter of “Women in the Profession” (WIP) will be officially unveiled tomorrow in Lagos.

WIP Nigeria aims to serve as a learning and leadership resource centre for the development of the Nigerian female lawyer.

According to information made available to CITY LAWYER, the launch will witness a lecture with Felicia Djibo, Consulting Partner at Delloite as Keynote Speaker.

Panelists include Kofo Dosekun, Chairman, Aluko and Oyebode; Michelle Thompson, CEO Resistant Vision Coaching and Consulting, and Derin Adefulu, Executive Head of Governance at Old Mutual Nigeria. The session will be moderated by Dolapo Kukoyi, Managing Partner at Detail Commercial Solicitors.

‘BIGWIG’ DOCUSERIES FOR LAUNCH AT NBA-AGC

BIGWIG is a legal docuseries showcasing lawyers in niche law practice who have achieved extensive career milestones in various non-traditional areas of law practice.

According to a statement made available to CITY LAWYER, the media project “features a number of outstanding corporate commercial lawyers, including the amiable Chief Chris Ogunbanjo, who is considered by many to be the forefather of this style of legal practice. These lawyers take us on a journey through their lives, career and law firm development from their cradle to the gigantic and enigmatic firms we all see today.

“Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Koye Kekere Ekun, all lawyers in the entertainment industry featured as presenters.

“The BIGWIG EP comprises original musical production by MI Abaga, Kala and Eri.

“BIGWIG seeks to inspire a change in the way the practice of law is viewed, by inviting everyone (especially the young lawyers) to embrace the fluid nature of law and the ability of lawyers to tailor law practice to address any challenge faced by society.”

ARBITRATION CZARS TO UNVEIL JICAM RULES TOMORROW

Leading arbitrators will tomorrow gather to unveil the “JICAM Arbitration & Mediation Rules, 2020.” The virtual event will also witness a lecture on “Institutional Arbitration in Africa Post COVID-19” by renowned chartered arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Prof. Paul Idornigie, SAN. Time is 11 a. m.

The event is facilitated by the Janada International Center for Arbitration and Mediation (JICAM), Abuja.

With the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Justice Benedict Kanyip as Special Guest of Honour, the event will be chaired by the retired Chief Judge of the Federal High Court and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Hon. Justice Ibrahim Auta. Justice Auta is also the Chairman of JICAM Governing Council.

Also expected at the virtual conference is former NBA presidential candidate and leading chartered arbitrator, Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN. Gadzama also doubles as the Chairman of the JICAM Board of Trustees.

Among the panelists are Prof. Ike Ehiribe, Mrs. Diane Okoko and Dr. Fidele Masengo, all fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and members of the JICAM Governing Council. Chimdindu Onyedim-Etuwewe, JICAM Acting General Manager is billed to anchor the event.
