The Nigerian Law Society (NLS) has said that some of its core objectives are to promote access to justice and combat corruption.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the law association’s Second Annual General Conference (AGC) which kicked off today, the President of the association, Mr. Mela Audu Nunghe SAN also noted that the NLS would work to strengthen the judiciary “through continuous legal education, research support, and advocacy for adequate remuneration of judicial officers.”
Signposting the country’s harsh economic conditions, Nunghe stated that “This gathering provides a unique opportunity for us to reflect on our contributions to the legal profession and our impact on society. Given the challenging economic conditions and hardships facing our citizens, there is no more fitting theme than this one.”
