MAIKYAU REAPPOINTS OBIAGWU AS NBA-HRI CHAIR

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau SAN has reappointed foremost human rights activist, Mr. Chinonye Obiagwu SAN as the Chairman of the Governing Board of NBA Human Rights Institute.

In a statement made available to CITY LAWYER, Maikyau urged the members of the reconstituted board “to be diligent and to employ their wealth of experience in the field of human rights to strengthen the NBA’s position as the bastion of human rights cause in Nigeria.”

NOTICE OF RECONSTITUTION OF THE NBA-HRI

Good evening Distinguished Colleagues,

In furtherance of the objective of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to promote and protect the principles of the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights, human rights, and people’s rights, the NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN has reconstituted, subject to ratification by the National Executive Council, the Board of the Nigerian Bar Association-Human Rights Institute (NBA-HRI). The Board is to be chaired by Mr. Chinonye Obiagwu, SAN.

The NBA President has thanked the Board members for accepting to serve, even as he has urged them to be diligent and to employ their wealth of experience in the field of human rights to strengthen the NBA’s position as the bastion of human rights cause in Nigeria.
