The committee has also published the names of candidates cleared to run for the elections. Reputed as the foremost of NBA’s 128 branches, the branch has by far the largest voting bloc within the association.

Among those cleared to run for the coveted seat of Branch Chairman are Mr. Adebola Lema, former Branch Secretary and Managing Partner at Fountain Court Partners; Mr. Olabisi Makanjuola, Chairman of Finance Sub-committee for the 2022 Branch Dinner Committee and Partner at Olaniwun Ajayi LP, and Mr. Mayowa Owolabi, Chairman of the Branch CLE Committee and Senior Partner at Pistis Partners LLP.

The race for the next Branch Secretary is a straight fight between Mr. Emubonuvie Majemite, a Partner at PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors and Mr. Kelechukwu Uzoka, a Lead Partner at K & C Partners.

Adefowoke Ayo-Ponle and Esther Ifeoma Jimoh will slug it out for the post of Vice Chairman while Dickson Obairi and Oyindamola Chinelo Fasakin will contest for the post of Social Secretary. Messrs Bayo Olusanya and Omoniyi Onabule have also been cleared to battle for the post of Publicity Secretary.

Meanwhile, some candidates are heading into the elections unopposed. These include Adeola Olabamiji, Assistant Secretary; Ono Oliko, Treasurer; Benita Olejeme, Financial Secretary; Olaide Ajewole, Welfare Secretary and Jubril Ali, Provost.

The committee warned that “The publication, printing or distribution of campaign materials, gifts and any form of souvenir whatsoever by a candidate or his/her supporters is hereby prohibited and any candidate who contravenes this provision shall be disqualified from being voted for.”

The Guidelines stated that the elections would hold via electronic voting from 5 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
