‘WE MADE HISTORY WITH 0VER 10,000 CLE ATTENDEES,’ SAYS TOBENNA EROJIKWE

The Nigerian Bar Association Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE) has posted a historic 10,128 attendance in its latest training series for lawyers.

The Chairman of the Board of NBA-ICLE, Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe made this known in a statement seen by CITY LAWYER.

According to Erojikwe, a Partner at the leading law firm of The Law Crest (TLC), the series “at its peak had 10,128 participants – the highest number ever in continuing legal education within the NBA.”

Continuing, he stated that “For us at the NBA-ICLE, this is heartwarming because it is not only a vote of confidence in our activities, but is also a demonstration of the level of enthusiasm and interest of our members in programmes of this nature which add value to their daily practices.”

He thanked the participants and facilitators as well as NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau SAN “for the support afforded the Institute throughout the series.”

Meanwhile, the Institute has lined up two additional series of training programmes for NBA members. These are the Digital Transition Training to be facilitated by William Samengo-Turner and Alex Shandro of Allen & Overy starting on June 5, 2023 and the 5-Day Insolvency Law and Practice training commencing on June 8, 2023 and facilitated by Mr. Okorie Kalu and Dr. Kubi Udofia.

NBA-ICLE CRIMINAL LITIGATION TRAINING

Dear Distinguished Colleagues,

I am pleased to report that we have now concluded the 12-Day Criminal Litigation Training Series which we commenced a couple of weeks ago. The series was well attended and at its peak had 10,128 participants – the highest number ever in continuing legal education within the NBA. For us at the NBA-ICLE, this is heartwarming because it is not only a vote of confidence in our activities, but is also a demonstration of the level of enthusiasm and interest of our members in programmes of this nature which add value to their daily practices.

We are grateful to all the participants and facilitators for their time and dedication, and to the President of the NBA for the support afforded the Institute throughout the series.

For the benefit of everyone, please find attached the following course materials from our facilitators:

  6. Trial Within Trial- Victor U. Opara, SAN;
  7. The Presentation of the Case for the Defence- Rotimi Jacobs, SAN;
  8. The Trial- Dr. Esa Onoja;
  9. Arrest & Interrogation: The Role of the Legal Practitioner- Edoka Dox Onyeke;

10. An Overview of the Role of the Legal Practitioner- Kanu Agabi, SAN; and

11. Appeals against Final Judgment- Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour.

Please note that the Digital Transition Training to be facilitated by William Samengo-Turner and Alex Shandro of Allen & Overy will take place on the 5th of June 2023 at 2:00pm.

Note also that the 5-Day training on Insolvency Law and Practice starts on the 8th of June 2023. The session will be coordinated by Okorie Kalu and Dr. Kubi Udofia, with Dr. Anthony Idigbe SAN, Dr. Tunde Ajibade SAN, Dr. Winifred Tarinyeba Kiryabwire, Kabiito Karamagi and Dr Bolanle Ajibola as members of the faculty.
