‘YOUR INAUGURAL LECTURE IS A BOLD STEP TO REJIG OUR PYSCHE,’ SAFIYA BALARABE TELLS NBA IJEBU-ODE YLF

SAFIYA BALARABE, CANDIDATE FOR NBA TREASURER SENDS GOODWILL MESSAGE TO THE YOUNG LAWYERS’FORUM, IJEBU ODE BRANCH AS THEY HOLD THEIR FIRST INAUGURAL LECTURE

Safiya Balarabe has delivered a goodwill message to the Young Lawyers’ Forum, Ijebu Ode branch on the occasion of their first Inaugural Lecture taking place today, 23rd June, 2022. The topic for the event is “The Influence of Justice and Order in a Developing Society”.

“My regards for the leadership and members of the Young Lawyers’ Forum, Ijebu Ode branch remains firm and same is further strengthened by the boldness and capacity with which this set of young lawyers operate.

It is indeed laudable to begin a venture, especially one which houses a bag load of resourcefulness. The Forum’s Inaugural Lecture with the topic ‘The Influence of Justice and Order in a Developing Society’ and its array of notable NBA personalities as speakers fits the above description.

You have coined a topic that touches on the very soul of the Nigerian state at present. Our major setback as a nation is the willful failure to apply the tenets of the rule of law. It is my sincere prayer that this program and others like it would go a long way to rejig our mentality as a people.

I wish the Forum a successful event tomorrow.

Thank you.”

‘YOURS IS A BAR OF EXCELLENCE,’ SAFIYA BALARABE TELLS NBA LAGOS

SAFIYA BALARABE SENDS GOODWILL MESSAGE TO NBA, LAGOS BRANCH ON ACCOUNT OF THEIR MONTHLY MEETING

Read below Safiya Balarabe’s goodwill message to NBA, Lagos branch as they conduct their monthly meeting, today 20th June, 2022.

“The distinguished Chairman, Executives and Members of the Premier Bar,

As you convoke today to conduct your monthly meeting, permit me to use this medium in conveying my thoughts to your elite Bar.

There are too numerous the positive adjectives that describe your branch. I will however harp on ‘excellent’. As though living up to your state’s mantra, you have made your bar the centre of excellence.

You have constantly infused this excellence in your meetings through your Knowledge Sharing Sessions. Today’s KSS which is ‘Law Firm Competency Framework for Law Firms’ by Dr. Adeoye Adefulu , Chairman NBA Lagos Branch Law Firm Competency Framework Committee) is another example of this fact.

I wish your bar more excellence in all its endeavours.

Thank you.”

‘YOU’RE A BULWARK FOR LESS PRIVILEGED,’ SAFIYA BALARABE TELLS FIDA LAGOS

SAFIYA BALARABE SENDS GOODWILL MESSAGE TO INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN LAWYERS (FIDA), LAGOS BRANCH AS THEY CONDUCT THEIR 2022 ANNUAL LAW WEEK

Read below Safiya Balarabe’s goodwill message to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) on account of their 2022 Annual Law Week themed “Education as a Catalyst for Boosting the Self Image of the African Child”.

“FIDA, Lagos branch has over the years demonstrated an unparalleled level of capacity in championing the cause of the less privileged in the society; organizing people oriented programs and stepping in to act as a beacon of hope for those whose life experiences have dimmed their spirit.

“This year’s Law Week themed ‘Education as a catalyst for Boosting the Self Image of the African Child’ is a perfect example of the above point. This theme touches on the very soul of the African continent, its future and dynamics. We are well aware that an uneducated population is a handicapped one. This is why if the African continent is serious about pulling out of its present state of underdevelopment, it must as a matter of duty invest in the self esteem of its future generations by putting in place the necessary requirements for sound education.

I am full of praises for the leadership and members of FIDA, Lagos State for this all-important program.

Thank you.

NBA BENIN 2022 ANNUAL LAW WEEK CELEBRATION: SAFIYA BALARABE, CANDIDATE FOR NBA TREASURER HAILS THE LION BAR

The ongoing 2022 Annual Law Week of the NBA, Benin branch (Lion Bar) has been greeted by a goodwill message from Safiya Balarabe. The Treasurer, NBA Women Forum lauded the branch for putting together a power-packed event which complements its apposite theme.

The statement reads:

“‘Security: Panacea for National Growth’ is the chosen theme for this year’s Law Week celebration of the NBA Benin branch (“Lion Bar”). No one can argue otherwise, to the effect that nowhere in the world has development ever been recorded in the midst of turmoil.

With a theme this apposite, I looked forward to a Law Week that matches same and I was not disappointed, as a matter of fact, I am greatly impressed by the organizational prowess of the Lion Bar. The Law Week so far has run smoothly with attendant intellectualism and glamour. One could mistake same for the NBA AGC itself.

I commend the leadership of the Lion Bar, its members and very importantly, the planning committee.

Thank you and God bless”.

SAFIYA BALARABE, CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION OF THE NBA TREASURER SENDS GOODWILL MESSAGE TO NBA IKEJA AS THEY CELEBRATE THEIR 2022 ANNUAL LAW WEEK

Safiya Balarabe, candidate for NBA Treasurer, has penned a goodwill message to the Ikeja Branch of the NBA on the occasion of their 2022 Annual Law celebration tagged: “2023, looking backward to move forward” holding between 10th and 17th of June, 2022.

The statement reads”

“The distinguished leadership and members of the NBA Ikeja branch (“Tiger Bar”),

I am delighted to extend my thoughts to your great branch as you celebrate your 2022 Annual Law Week. The theme ‘2023, looking backward to move forward’ reminds us of the importance of looking back in time order to make better decisions with a view to making desired progress. We cannot as a nation afford to get it wrong in 2023, hence, we must let ourselves be guided by antecedents while making our choices.

This theme could not have been more apt. As a matter of fact, it is one of the best I have come across thus far. I commend the Tiger Bar for this timely reminder.

I wish you a successful Law Week celebration.

Thank you and God bless”

‘FACTORS THAT DETERMINE RETURN ON INVESTMENT,’ BY SAFIYA BALARABE

HOW TO ENSURE FAVOURABLE RETURN ON INVESTMENT

The long-run rate of return on investments ultimately determines how much wealth people accumulate over time. Always look at returns when considering mutual funds or exchange-traded funds.

Likewise, it is important to know your risk tolerance, your investment timeframe, your asset allocation and the product or business you are investing in.

A smart businessman or woman must consider these in order to ensure favourable Return on Investment

‘YOUR LAW WEEK THEME VERY APT,’ SAFIYA BALARABE TELLS NBA ILE-IFE

GOODWILL MESSAGE FROM SAFIYA BALARABE TO THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION, ILE-IFE BRANCH ON HER 2022 LAW WEEK

“The highly respected Chairman, Executives and Members of the great Ile-Ife branch, I extend my unalloyed regards to you on the occasion of your annual law week taking place between 30th of May to 1st of June,2022.

The chosen theme: ‘Exploring the Law as a Catalyst towards a truly Federal State’ is very apt, especially as a country that practices a federal system of government.

We have however noticed overtime that the federal system has been bastardized by politicians; turning same on its head with the resultant effect being mismanagement and embezzlement of resources across the different levels of government, lack of accountability from political leaders amongst others.

Flowing from the above, I strongly believe that with the great personalities who will be speaking on the theme, like the revered Chairman of the Body of Benchers cum a respected leader, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN as the Guest Speaker and Prof. Abiola Sanni SAN as a keynote speaker, the theme and all topics on your Law Week program shall be well discussed and possible solutions proffered.

Once again, I wish you a wonderful Law Week celebration.

SAFIYA BALARABE PRAISES NBA MAKURDI ON LAW WEEK

SAFIYA BALARABE’S GOODWILL MESSAGE TO THE MAKURDI BRANCH ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 2022 LAW WEEK

The 2022 Law Week of the Makurdi branch of the NBA kick-started yesterday, May 27th, 2022. Read below Safiya Balarabe’s message to the branch on this occasion: “Distinguished Chairman, Executives and Members of the Makurdi branch, I extend my regards to you in this period of your Law Week celebration.

The theme: ‘Democracy, Electoral process and the paradigm of change in Nigeria’ is nothing short of apposite. Democracy in its true form portends that elected officials rule with transparency and are accountable to the people from whom they obtained legitimacy. Our Electoral Act though recently amended, still has a long way to go if we truly desire to enhance democracy in government; thus enabling a fully participatory system.

Progress is impossible without change, hence there must be a paradigm shift from the extant arrangement wherein the very people who are to be represented have no say in whom is presented to them for voting. This is necessary to wipe out the totality of the kleptocratic elites that have hindered our country’s development. . Conclusively, as you conclude your Law Week celebration, I strongly believe that you will leave no stone unturned in doing justice to this theme and drive home the all important need for change in our political system. God bless you”.

If anyone asks what the role of the judiciary in Nation building is, it is safe to answer that the judiciary is the keeper of the nation’s sanctity without which same would be in a state of complete disarray. This underscores how important the judiciary is to any nation and this is why we must always seek to protect it. I wish you a successful event.

SAFIYA BALARABE LAUDS JUSTICE MARY ODILI ON HER BIRTHDAY, RETIREMENT

Following the birthday and retirement of Hon. Justice Mary Peter Odili from the Supreme Court, Safiya Balarabe has felicitated with the jurist on this dual celebration.

Her message reads:

“My Lord, Honourable Justice, you are a constant inspiration to all gentlemen in skirt and to all women.

You are a blessing to humankind, a pacesetter, a rare gem, an achiever and a success story. It is amazing how you have walked the paths of the legal journey from the Rivers State Magistracy up to the highest court of the land, the Supreme Court. This is no mean feat neither is it an easy journey in a country such as ours. 44 years in the judiciary is no joke!

It was equally no child’s play as you combined service at the Judiciary as well as your position as the First Lady of Rivers State; indeed you are a great woman.

Your achievement in the Judiciary will never be forgotten, it will continue to inspire us all to reach for the greater heights possible.

My Lord, as you retire today, I wish you a happy retirement, I bring you glad tidings, I wish you the very best and above all, I wish you good fruits from your good labour.

Further more, as your retirement is same day with your 70th birthday, I wish you long life, prosperity and unending happiness. You will continue to celebrate many more years.

Happy birthday, My Lord and God will continue to bless you”.

“The distinguished Chairman, Executive Committee and Branch Members of the Jalingo branch,

“Permit me to use this medium in conveying my highest regards to your dear branch on the occasion of your 2022 Annual Law Week themed: ‘Legal Practice in a Volatile Democracy; the Nigerian Experience’.

“We have many challenges as legal professionals, but the challenge of lack of respect and regard for the person of a law in the course of his lawful duties is perhaps one of the most disturbing! We are always inundated with bizarre news of brutalization of lawyers by security personnel and the like. We know too well that this ugly practice in engendered by the weak institutions of state leading to a very volatile democracy where might is right and opposed to the rule of law.

“To this end, it gladdens my heart that you have chosen to centre your theme on this very broad and important aspect of our legal career and I look forward to positive changes arising from discussions and recommendation from the speakers at the event.

“I wish you a successful Law Week celebration. Thank you and God bless”

“Today as we celebrate the breaking of the fast, thanking Almighty Allah for sustaining us throughout the period, we should by every means hold fast the core tenets of the Ramadan period as entrenched in the teachings of the Holy Quran and championed by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This is necessary especially as our dear nation is faced with myriads of social, moral and economic problems. We as Muslims must indeed be the shining light and herald a positive turnaround for our dear nation.
